New Indigenous Traineeship opening doors to a career in data science for Gold Coast Highschool Students

NEWS - 30 Mar 2022

Strategic tech advisory firm KJR Australia has partnered with the Queensland Government’s 9.5-hectare development Lumina to launch an Indigenous Traineeship that will open doors to a career in technology for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 11 and 12 on the Gold Coast.

Backed by the Queensland Government, through Economic Development Queensland (EDQ), the yearly traineeship beginning March 29th, offers students an opportunity to learn from data scientists, tech engineers and KJR’s consulting team on the tools and best practices for working with and analysing data. Students that are passionate about understanding more about data science will gain real-world technical experience by assisting the KJR team on a list of projects across artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.

In addition to exploring a career in technology, students will gain insight into the workforce environment, build their teamwork and networking skills, and complete their Certification III in Business.

KJR Australia Founder and Chairman, Dr Kelvin Ross, said it is an exciting opportunity not only for these students but also for the KJR team to share the skills and expertise in the technology spaces that we are so passionate about. We hope that through this program, we can encourage and empower students across the Gold Coast to take control of their future and their careers with helpful mentorship.

Students will complete the traineeship on site at the Cohort Innovation Space, within Lumina, where KJR is co-located with their affiliate company and data platform Datarwe. This provides a fantastic opportunity for students to gain immersive and hands-on work in learning experience.
