Introducing RDX Lumina

The $154 million life sciences research excellence of centre, ‘RDX Lumina’ celebrated its official sod-turning ceremony in May 2023, and is currently on track for completion in 2025.

RDX Lumina is a state-of-the-art development led by developer Northwest Healthcare Properties on behalf of Vital Healthcare, that will house best-in-class medical research, training, and clinical facilities, including NeuTex’s world-first Image-Guided Therapy Surgical and Robotics Training Centre.

Dedicated to advancing medical research and training

When complete, the RDX building is proposed to support radiology and interventional cardiology innovation, specialised rehabilitation clinical services, and a Phase 1a human clinical trials unit.

The building is designed to accommodate a range of uses including specialised laboratories.

For medical and health-tech professionals, RDX will offer unique training opportunities. Outside of traditional hospital settings, RDX aims to attract the best minds in the industry and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

A modern, world-class design in a collaborative setting

The architecturally designed building will also provide high-quality specialist medical consulting suites and collaboration spaces, catering for partial and whole floor uses with tenancies ranging from 100 sqm to 2,000 sqm.

It is situated in a prime position, close to health leaders Gold Coast University Hospital, and Griffith University, and boasts a proposed bridge link to the Gold Coast Private Hospital.

Northwest Vice President – Leasing, Georgie Huxley, said the opportunities offered by precinct co-location with RDX Lumina are invaluable.

“Our specialisation is in developing market-leading facilities and precincts that bring together the best medical expertise, technology and education opportunities across health and life sciences,” she said.

Our focus for RDX has been to develop an ultra-modern, functional, and most importantly, sustainable, building that will appeal to best-in-class tenants across research, virtual care, robotics, medical technology and other health, education and research-related fields.”

World-first training centre

RDX will house the world-first NeuTex Image-Guided Therapy Surgical and Robotics Training Centre, a bespoke training centre for Asia-Pacific specialists to study and pioneer precision treatments for stroke, cancer, cardiovascular disease and spinal injuries.

NeuTex feature Philips’ multi-million dollar Azurion biplane interventional neurosurgery platform technology and is led by nationally recognised Doctors Hal Rice and Laetitia de Villiers.

“This dedicated facility will have the latest equipment and space to accommodate larger groups of training doctors, without impacting patient care in a busy hospital environment. We’ll be able to revolutionise training and look to a future where AI and robotics will enable remote procedures, virtually anywhere in the world.”

– Dr Hal Rice

Growing global demand for spaces like RDX Lumina

New developments like RDX Lumina support the growing demand for medical research lab and office space as the life sciences industry across the Asia-Pacific region continues its upwards trajectory.

Lumina is registering healthy demand for medical offices from domestic and international life sciences leaders. For example, Phenox – a leading global innovator in interventional neuroradiology – has secured two offices at Cohort Innovation Space within Lumina to serve as their Australian HQ as they expand in the Asia-Pacific market.

Lease opportunities are ready to secure today, move in by 2025

Once complete, RDX Lumina will embody sustainable and resilient principles while delivering cutting-edge healthcare solutions, following a design to achieve a 6-Star Green Star rating.

Its completion will mark another crucial step in positioning the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct as a leading hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
