Tech Company Datarwe Joins Cohort Innovation Space at Lumina
NEWS - 02 Oct 2020
The announcement of Datarwe’s new AI lab comes just six months after Cohort announced an expansion to create multi-disciplinary scientific labs, cementing its reputation of one of the fastest growing innovation spaces in Queensland.
The custom-built space provides 24/7 access for the fast-growing team, allowing them to work flexibly and scale their operations quickly utilising the world-class facilities that Cohort already offers.
Datarwe uses high-quality, real world data to design analytics platforms and tools that accelerates AI model development and improves research and medical outcomes in the healthcare space.
The technology company was established in early 2019 as a public-private partnership with the aim to partner with government and industry healthcare providers to develop the world’s most comprehensive acute care medical research data platform, and has since received $1.5 million in Advance Queensland funding for their Precision Medicine Data Platform (PMDP) project.
The PMDP works by collecting de-identified patient data from hospitals’ Intensive Care Units’ monitoring devices and clinical notes before securely enriching the data in a way that it can be used by health care professionals to make timely decisions at the patient’s bedside.
Datarwe’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr Kelvin Ross, said establishing a headquarters within Cohort provides his team access to an extensive network of world-renowned researchers, scientists, health and technology experts that are already innovating within the precinct.
“Working within a collaborative space means that our team not only benefits from the existing shared facilities that the Queensland Government have already invested in, but it also means that our team can have organic interactions with likeminded entrepreneurs, industry professionals and students on a daily basis within the space” Dr Ross said.
“We are excited to be part of this unique location that nurtures emerging health and innovation startups and we look forward to pushing the envelope for AI industry development, driving new research collaborations and creating jobs of the future in Lumina.”
Datarwe joins Gold Coast Health, Griffith University and Cluster Biotechnology as anchor tenants for Cohort Innovation Space.
